Echo of the Dead

A survivor of the Dalmascan uprisings, Strahan's life has been marked by war from a young age. Born into an occupied Dalmasca, he has no memories other than the cruelty of the Empire. Now a member of the Rumta-Zaraam, he travels alone seeking revenge for a lifetime of pain. Cursed with the unique ability to commune with the dead via prophetic dreams, Strahan carries with him the suffering and rage of many who fell under Garlemald and intends to give it back tenfold.

Appearance

Strahan is a young hyur with a pale complexion. His hair is a light blonde and styled in such a way to help hide most of the right side of his face. While usually hidden under a dark leather patch, Strahan also has a severe burn scar across one side of his face. He is completely blind in that eye, the skin scarring over the socket. He never lets people see the disfigurement if he can help it. Usually dressed in dark colors and thick robes, Strahan, while a mage, also keeps himself slightly armored for protection. Various mixtures can often be found attached to his belts.

Personality

Strahan is an extremely unwelcoming individual. He prefers to keep to himself, and rarely engages in conversation. A man scarred in more ways than one, Strahan does not trust. He does not even entertain the idea of trust. He works alone. He is an extremely powerful mage, his thaumaturgy fueled by his anger and something rooted far deeper. Strahan is a fury of fire and lightning on the battlefield, but cold as ice outside of it.

He is a man in chronic pain, despite being young. Likely suffering from long-standing wounds, both mental and physical from the Garlean occupation, Strahan has a haunted look about him in the quiet. Unbridled fury replaces it while focused on the fight, but it is something he cannot fully mask otherwise.

Hooks

  • Dalmascan Resistance: When Strahan was younger, he took part in various skirmishes around Dalmasca. While most of his activity was centered around his home city of Valnain, other resistance members may have heard of a rather talented thaumaturge and chemical weapon specialist.

  • Rumta-Zaraam: Currently Strahan is a member of the secretive organization formed to hunt down war criminals after Dalmasca reclaimed its freedom. This association has become in name only, as Strahan rarely interacts with them on an official capacity. But he does use their information from time to time.

  • Chemical Specialist: In combination with his thaumaturgy, Strahan employs the use of various chemical mixtures to increase the potency or amplify the damage of his spells. He often needs alchemical or other ingredients. He would find use in alchemists and their wares.

  • Veren Galliher (Deceased): Veren was Strahan's childhood friend. The two boys grew up near-inseparable, witnessing the injustices of their people under Garlean rule. The two joined the various resistance groups at a young age. When both boys were sixteen, a mission went horribly wrong. Strahan lost his eye, while Veren lost his life. Ever since then, Strahan has been plagued by the memory of losing his friend, and someone he cared deeply for. He still thinks Veren should have lived, while he was the one who should have died.

Hey, I'm Hithren, and I've been doing this RP thing for about fifteen years, about four of them being in FFXIV. Below is some stuff you might want to know about me before engaging to make it easier on the both of us.

Disclaimer

As a general disclaimer: I suffer from major anxiety. If I do not answer or engage with you right away, please do not be offended. Sometimes I freeze up, or get discouraged.

I do not engage in ERP unless it is with close friends who I have gotten to know OOCly, and my characters have formed bonds with ICly. If you're looking for someone to satisfy such things, I'm likely not the roleplay partner for you. Don't get me wrong, I love ships and romance, but I do prefer organic development above all else.

I am not a multi-verse/AU roleplayer.

I prefer my roleplay to be lore-compliant ( within reason, we all bend a bit here and there), story/plot-driven, and mature-themed.

Accessibility

I am located in the PDT/PST timezone. At the moment I have a fluctuating schedule, so I prefer setting things up in advance rather than walk-ups. My main cast of characters are located on the Balmung server, and I do have some alts on Mateus and Goblin. I am more than happy to accommodate others via the World Visit system, however.

I predominantly roleplay in-game, and prefer this method over all others. I am open to Discord RP if that is the only way we can work something out, but I will warn in advance, I do tend to be slow to reply.
